The Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, also known as Prop 65, is California’s proposition to protect the state’s drinking water from chemical contamination that is known to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. This Proposition 65 warns those entering parking garages that the air in the area may contain chemicals, such as carbon monoxide, gasoline, and diesel engine exhaust that could cause cancer and birth defects.
