designated smoking areas.
While it’s important for a facility to keep areas smoke-free, such as building entrances and areas near flammable material, it’s just as important to provide safe locations for individuals to take smoke breaks. Otherwise you run the risk of rule-breaking or worse, employees choosing unmarked areas that could endanger them and others. Make sure chosen smoke areas marked with Smoking Permitted Signs to communicate to these individuals which areas are deemed safe for smoke breaks.
