Who is Responsible for the Oversight of Healthcare Facilities in the United States?

All companies that operate in the United States are regulated when it comes to making sure that they run safely for their employees, customers, and the surrounding environment. The main agency that has oversight responsibilities for companies in the US is the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and it is also going to be the one that watches over healthcare facilities.

While healthcare facilities have to follow the same general requirements that other companies need to follow, they also have a variety of other things that they need to do to keep employees, patients, and the surrounding community safe. For this reason, they also have to submit to oversight from other agencies in the federal, state, and local governments.

Another agency that has some oversight into healthcare facilities is the center for disease control, or CDC. This is an agency that would be responsible for things like tracking infectious diseases and making sure that they are contained. The CDC is also going to watch these facilities for the use of prescription drugs and other medications that are often used. Their oversight helps to ensure each facility is operating according to the laws and regulations that apply to them.

The Department of Health and Human Services (DHS) is also responsible for many areas of oversight into healthcare facilities. This agency is responsible for enhancing the health and well-being of Americans, and part of that is making sure that hospitals and other healthcare facilities are providing the appropriate level of care and keeping everyone safe while in these facilities.
